TUKILIK > Projects > Field Research

Field Research.

Field Research is the most important undertaking by the Tukilik Project. It yields vital information about the land and its people. The results are fed back into the community who are among its strongest supporters. About 80% of expenditures in the field go back into the community.
Striking examples of ethnogeographic work include the first mapping of sites across central Baffin the results can be seen at: Ikpik Journal Part 1 and 2.

Working in concert with the Geological Survey of Canada, the entire southwest coast of Baffin Island from the Foxe peninsula to Mingo Lake was mapped in 2006.

Preliminary results have been reported to the community of Cape Dorset which has been an ardent supporter of the Tukilik Project.
